Here is a statement on DIGNITY by the U.S. peace educator BETTY REARDON.

Source: Her book Educating for Human Dignity. Learning about Rights and
Responsibilities. Published by University of Pennsylvania Press,
1995, p. 5:

"DIGNITY is the fundamental innate worth of the human person. A good society honors the dignity of all persons and expects all its members to respect the DIGNITY of others."

(Submitted by Francisco Gomes de Matos)

In 2010, people from the Human Dignity and Humiliation Studies network wanted to do the next step regarding their long-standing Education branch. Evelin G. Lindner and Linda Hartling, supported by other members (see credits) drafted a Strategy Paper to launch the World Dignity University.

The document can be ownloaded here. Outlining the rationale behind proposing the WDU and describing some key modes of operation, it is intended as a starting point for discussing the WDU concept.

This discussion is currently ongoing and documented within the "Concept Wiki". The second menu item leads you to it. If you would like to contribute but are not yet registered as a discussant and contributor, please send an email to wdu /at/ worlddignityuniversity.org.

Responses to the Strategy Paper were very positive. We thank all of you, who took time to read and comment the paper. Some feedback about the concept as outlined therein may be found at the "Testimonials" pages.

At YouTube, you can find a large selection of short videos about the WDU concept. Please go to www.youtube.com, search for: "World Dignity University" and enjoy watching!
